The Gin Gin Christmas Parade is back again on Sunday 22 December with the whole community invited to get into the festive spirit.

Gin Gin Rural Fire Brigade’s Jack Daw gives an overview of the event:

What is the event and what inspired you to organise it?

The event started in 2023 as a way to bring the community and the local emergency services closer together, and to spread some holiday joy.

What are the main activities or highlights attendees can look forward to?

The parade will start at 10 am from out front of the SES building on Flanders Street, proceed down Elliott Street, and end at Campbell Street.

After the parade is finished, the vehicles will drive to the pool and meet the public there for photos and a free barbecue, the pool is also offering free entry until 1 pm.

Local businesses have been invited to help out with the parade.

The event started in 2023 as a way to bring the community and the local emergency services closer together.

How do you envision this event benefiting the local community?

All communities could use a little bit of holiday cheer every now and again.

It’s well worth all the work to see everyone’s smiling faces.

How can community members get involved or support the event?

If community members are wanting to support the event, they can reach out to us @gingin.rfb on Facebook with their proposal and we’ll see what we can do.

What is the history of this event, and how has it evolved over the years?

The event started in 2023 after COVID, and although it’s still relatively new, we’re glad to see that people are excited for it already.

The community can stay updated on announcements related to the event by following @gingin.rfb on Facebook.

What is your vision for the event’s future?

When we thought of the parade last year, we hoped the community would enjoy it enough so that we could make it an annual event, and it’s safe to say they have.

As far as I can see as long as the community keeps showing up and supporting the event, it’s here to stay.

How do you hope attendees will feel after participating in the event?

We hope that anyone who attends the event leaves with a smile on their face, and that we’ve made their Christmas that little bit brighter.
