Innovative mental health clinic AwareHub has expanded its services to Bundaberg, offering effective and affordable Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments.

The expansion brings the revolutionary TMS therapy to the region, providing a proven alternative for clients dealing with depression, anxiety, OCD and other mental health conditions.

TMS is also used to manage chronic pain, and other neurological conditions.

AwareHub Director psychiatrist Dr Lisa Myers, was thrilled to announce the opening of the Sydney-based clinic’s new treatment centre in Bundaberg.

“I am passionate about mental health and helping people in areas of need,” Lisa said.

“TMS is a safe, effective, and affordable treatment.

“For clients who haven’t responded to traditional treatments for depression, anxiety, and OCD, TMS offers an alternate solution.”

The decision to open a clinic in Bundaberg came naturally for Dr. Myers, who has been visiting the area frequently over the years.

“I always had a desire to take our TMS service regional, and so, Bundy was a logical first step for us,” she said.

“We have enjoyed wonderful support from the Friendlies Hospital in setting up our services in Bundaberg.”

The demand for mental health services in Bundaberg has been consistently high, a trend noticed by Dr. Myers during her consultations in the area over the past year.

“TMS is a unique treatment that can manage a wide range of mental health and neurological conditions,” she said.

“Although TMS is prescribed and supervised by a psychiatrist, the treatment is largely administered by a trained nurse, allowing us to help a greater number of people.”

The expansion also includes the appointment of new local nurses who will screen clients referred by their GP and/or psychiatrist for TMS suitability.

Dr Myers said while TMS might not be suitable for everyone, it can be very helpful for many.

The treatment, being quick, non-invasive and subsidised, offers minimal side effects and is covered by Medicare, DVA, and some insurance claims for treatment-resistant depression.
