The annual Garage Sale Trail is rolling into Bundaberg from Saturday, with the whole community invited to join Australia’s ultimate second-hand shopping spree.
Over two big weekends, on 9 – 10 and 16- 17 November, more than 145 local sites registered across the region will provide an opportunity for bargain hunters to find pre-loved treasures and help reduce waste by giving items a second life.
The initiative aims to educate Australians on the importance of reuse, and the need to take individual responsibility for the impact of our consumption habits whilst also building stronger, more connected and more resilient communities.
Mayor Helen Blackburn encouraged residents to participate and said there would be positive impacts on both the environment and the local economy.
“The Garage Sale Trail is a win for both your wallet and our planet,” she said.
“By buying second-hand or selling items we no longer need, we’re reducing waste, saving resources, and supporting our local community.”
From clothing and furniture to unique collectibles, each site promises an array of items waiting to find a new home.
Residents interested in hosting their own sale or finding nearby locations can
register or look up the trail map on the Garage Sale Trail website.
Don’t miss the chance to join this nationwide movement and contribute to a more sustainable future for Bundaberg.

Just remember if it uses fuel (petrol, electricity, batteries) alot of the time reusing actually causes more environmental damage by prolonging the use of less efficient goods. It’s better to have new items that operate at peek efficiency with modern tolerances & performance if it uses fuel.
I could buy a old bomb or secondhand V8 car with bad fuel economy or I could buy something new that uses much less petrol.
I could buy a secondhand Plasma TV that uses as much power as a refrigerator… or I could buy a new Quantum Dot LCD TV with 6+2 star power efficiency.
