Bundaberg Regional Council is embracing the festive season with the launch of its 2024 Christmas program, featuring a packed schedule of events to spread joy and cheer across the region.
This year’s program will offer something for everyone, with festive art exhibitions, Christmas workshops, markets, and a special drive-in movie event set to make the season merry and bright.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said the Christmas season held a special place in the hearts of the Bundaberg community and the program worked to bring people together to celebrate the values of togetherness, kindness, and giving.
“Christmas is such an important time in Bundaberg because it reflects the spirit of community that we cherish all year round,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“It’s about coming together, celebrating with family and friends, and spreading joy across the region.
Mayor Blackburn said this year’s program would see the return of the highly anticipated Pageant of Lights event following its successful revival last year.
“We are thrilled to be welcoming back the Pageant of Lights which brought so much joy to the community last year,” she said.
“Held in the main street of the CBD, it is the perfect event for families to get together and enjoy the festivities and a chance for businesses and organisations to be part of something magical at the end of the year.
“Those wishing to take part still have time to register for a spot in the parade!”
Events portfolio spokesperson Cr Steve Cooper said the 2024 Christmas Program would not only celebrate the festive season but also help to foster a sense of connection across Bundaberg.
“Christmas brings out the best in our region and it’s a time when the whole community can come together in celebration,” Cr Cooper said.
“From markets to workshops and our much-loved Pageant of Lights, this year’s program truly has something for everyone.
“We’ve put together an exciting line-up that will bring people together and fill the streets with the spirit of Christmas.”
