Bundaberg Regional Galleries Director Rebecca McDuff has recently attended Government House in Brisbane to take part in a special event with a select forum of regional gallery directors.
Rebecca was invited by Her Excellency, the Governor of Queensland, the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, to attend the dinner in recognition of the importance of regional galleries in Queensland.
Rebecca said it was incredibly special to be welcomed to Government House and to join the discussion.
“I felt proud that the achievements of Bundaberg Regional Galleries, as well as my engagement with the arts industry, were recognised at this very special event,” Rebecca said.
“The visual arts and art galleries are often not recognised for the important contributions they make to vibrant and healthy communities.
“To have this recognised by the Governor of Queensland in such a special way was an honour, and I hope that our community can see what a great asset we have in our regional galleries and the important work that is being done to promote and support our regional arts community.”
The event provided Rebecca the opportunity to network with colleagues including Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) Director Chris Saines and nine other Regional Gallery Directors.
“The opportunity to meet Her Excellency, and her husband Dr Nimmo, and be invited into their home and partake in conversation with them about our Gallery and the work that we do, was incredibly special,” Rebecca said.
