Burnett Heads Progress Association president Daniel Walshaw says the group has joined the Garage Sale Trail to raise funds for a community Christmas party

From Burnett Heads to Bungadoo and everywhere in between, plenty of locals are already jumping on the Garage Sale Trail.

Held over two big weekends on the 9 – 10 and 16 – 17 November, the trail will offer savings for savvy shoppers on everything from the essentials you need, to the pre-loved gems you want.

Through Bundaberg Regional Council support, residents can register their own sale or join a group sale in their neighbourhood to take part over one day or do more across both weekends.

Burnett Heads Progress Association has already registered its community garage sale on the Garage Sale Trail website.

President Daniel Walshaw said it was a vital fundraising opportunity for the group’s community Christmas party which will feature entertainment, music and a visit from Santa.

“Over the last couple of years we’ve had a whole lot of furniture donated, books, DVDs and other just household items,” Daniel said.

“So we’ve decided that we’ll get involved in the Garage Sale Trail and see if we can sell some of it off and use the money to help fund our community Christmas party.

“We’ve got a lot of gear here which we just haven’t been able to move so the Garage Sale Trail gives us a way to do that.

“We try to do a lot for the community out here and every little bit of money that we can raise to support the community is brilliant.”

Community can join Burnett Heads Garage Sale Trail

To be held at the community hall at 19 Zunker Street, Burnett Heads, the progress association is also opening up its event to community members who’d like to feature their own stall at the group sale.

“[We will] get the community down, let them offload some of the stuff that they’ve got sitting around at home as well.

“Won’t cost them anything.

“They can just get their stuff out of home, don’t have to worry about people knocking on their door or going into their yard.”

Daniel said it was easy to take part in the event.

“Very easy to register for the Garage Sale Trail. Jumped online, filled in the form. It was all done.”
