Bundaberg Regional Council has donated $55,000 to LifeFlight in support of the aeromedical organisation’s work in the Wide Bay-Burnett region and beyond.
Mayor Helen Blackburn and councillors toured the state-of-the-art facility to learn more about the base, its rescue helicopter and the aeromedical crews who provide lifesaving care to the region.
Mayor Blackburn said the council was pleased to support LifeFlight’s vital work in the community.
“Bundaberg Regional Council is proud to continue to support LifeFlight on behalf of the community,” she said.
“The lifesaving work this organisation does in serving the wider region is critical and we’re proud that they’re based right here in Bundaberg.”
Wide Bay-Burnett LifeFlight Regional Advisory Committee chair Neil McPhillips praised the local council’s commitment.
“It’s great that members of the Bundaberg Regional Council were able to take a tour of the local LifeFlight facility,” he said.
“The support of council and the community of our vital work in the Wide Bay-Burnett communities and beyond is always appreciated.”
The local community joined Regional Advisory Committee members at a light lunch hosted at the Bundaberg hangar, as a show of appreciation for their support.
The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight rescue helicopter and crew flew 416 missions during the 2024 financial year and undertook 36 search and rescues.
The service also clocked up 668 flying hours – up 6.2 per cent on the previous year.
It contributed to a record 8,173 people helped by LifeFlight in FY24 – more than 11 per cent higher than the previous year.
