Save the planet and your pocket by registering to sell pre-loved treasures as part of the national Garage Sale Trail which returns to the Bundaberg Region in November.
Held over two big weekends on the 9 – 10 and 16 – 17 November, the trail will offer savings for savvy shoppers on everything from the essentials you need, to the pre-loved gems you want.
Through Bundaberg Regional Council support, residents can register their own sale or join a group sale in their neighbourhood to take part over one day or do more across both weekends.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said initiatives like the Garage Sale Trail would help residents turn ‘trash’ into cash and make it easier for many others to find affordable treasures – all while keeping reusable items out of landfill.
“Garage Sale Trail is a great community event that promotes the adage ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“By having our whole community take part in one massive garage sale event, it makes it even easier to host a sale.
“It’s a quick registration process and then residents can just focus on getting their sale items ready as Council and the national Garage Sale Trail team help to get the word out.
“Every registered sale will be added to the interactive map making it easier for shoppers to find you.”
She said registration was free and how-to guides and promotional resources were available to every participant.
Council also supported the event locally in 2023 with Garage Sale Trail and Taverner Research Group data revealing the many positive outcomes for locals including:
- More than 6000 residents participated
- Hosts made on average $456
- 61, 192 kg of pre-loved items reused
