Bundaberg Players Inc will reach a milestone this month – performing its 500th production with Revue 500.
Artistic Director Bex Hutchins said Revue 500 would be a show full of memories, highlights and, most importantly, lots of music, dancing and fun.
“The Bundaberg Amateur Players, later renamed Bundaberg Players Inc, was founded in 1950, and performed our first production, ‘Miss Hook of Holland’, in 1951 at Bundaberg’s old Wintergarden Theatre,” Bex said.
“Seventy-four years and 500 productions later, BPI is one of the oldest regional theatre companies in Queensland, presenting an average of seven unparalleled high-quality productions each year”.
Musical Director Chris Arnold said there would be something for everyone.
“We are singing a song from our original production, Miss Hook of Holland, right through to our most popular recent productions,” Chris said.
“We would love our beloved patrons to join us to celebrate some of the amazing shows that have led us to this incredible milestone.”
As well as brilliant group songs and expertly choreographed dances, there will be some solos and guest performances from former Playhouse Theatre favourites who will be travelling to join in this very special milestone.
Revue 500 will perform on the Playhouse Stage at 7.30 pm on 27 and 28 September with a matinee at 3 pm on Sunday 29 September, and then at 7:30 pm on 3 and 4 October, with the final show a matinee at 3 pm on Saturday 5 October.
Revue 500 is part of the Playhouse Theatre’s 2024 subscription season. Tickets will go on sale to subscribers 10 am on Saturday 7 September.
Tickets will open to the public on Sunday 8 September at 10 am.
The box office will be open 10 am to noon on weekends at the Playhouse Theatre, 2b Steffensen Street West Bundaberg, or by phone 4153 1904 and online here.
