Enjoy arts and culture at Sunset Launch

Milbi Festival sunset launch Mitch Tambo
The multi-talented recording artist Mitch Tambo, first stunned the nation when he performed a First Nations version of the iconic John Farnham anthem, You’re The Voice on the 2019 Finale of Australia’s Got Talent, will open this year’s Milbi Festival at the Sunset Launch in October.

A free beachside concert will kick off this year’s Milbi Festival with First Nations performer and Australia’s Got Talent finalist Mitch Tambo set to headline the Sunset Launch.

The Sunset Launch will return to Nielson Beach, Bargara for the highly anticipated 2024 Milbi Festival featuring a stunning array of entertainment and a selection of market stalls as the sun starts to dip below the horizon.

Bundaberg Regional Council Events portfolio spokesperson Cr Steve Cooper said attendees could look forward to First Nation performances, an array of street food offerings from local vendors and market stalls.

“The Sunset Launch at Nielson Park Beach is a fantastic way to start the Milbi Festival,” Cr Cooper said.

“We’re encouraging friends and families to grab a picnic rug and enjoy the start of a celebration that brings our community together and highlights the rich cultural heritage of our region.

“This year we will see one of Australia’s most unique and dynamic First Nations performers, Mitch Tambo, take the stage to open the festival.”

A proud Gamilaraay man, Mitch blends traditional Aboriginal sounds and language with contemporary beats and production.

The multi-talented recording artist first stunned the nation when he performed a spine tingling First Nations version of the iconic John Farnham anthem, You’re The Voice on the 2019 Finale of Australia’s Got Talent.

Mitch’s performance was powerful and won the hearts of Australia as well as a host of other countries.

A year later he performed You’re the Voice on stage at ANZ Stadium in Sydney with John Farnham featuring Brian May, Olivia Newton-John, Alan McKenzie plus a cast of pipers and firefighters.

The Sunset Launch event promises a vibrant celebration of culture and community spirit, marking the beginning of a week-long festival filled with art, music and cultural delights.
