Oyster and Fee’s Day: Always a lovely friendly day out on our greens, as an added extra today we had two games in the B grade Men’s Singles.
Ken Geaney had a very hard fought win 26/22 over Werner Hass with Graham Ashcroft as marker.
George Weir had a win over Keith Sleep with Geoff Haines as marker.
Special thanks to Rob Anderson who stood as Umpire for the day.

Saturday 24.08.2024:
Today we had the final of the Open Ladies Consistency between Fiona Dowling and Jacquie Rogerson.
A tight game resulting in a win to Fiona 125/95, congratulations to both Ladies on reaching the final of such a hard fought competition.
Thanks to Gail Lenz who was the marker and Archie Bishop who stood as Umpire for the day.
Our division one men played here at Woodgate against Burnett going down by 7.

Firstly we had the semi final of the Open Mens Triples between team Byrnes and Team Hannah.
Team Byrnes: Robbie Royan, Rowdy Taylor and Robbie Byrnes had a convincing win over:Team Hannah: Keith Sleep, Geoff Haynes and Rob Hannah.
Team Byrnes will now meet up against Team Cornish:
Stephen Cole, Alan Goodhew and Brian Cornish in the final.

COMPETITION
Members are asked to check the Competition draws and start arranging games by mutual agreement where possible. Competitions can now be played on a Sunday on QRI Bowls days. The next two QRI Sundays are Sunday 15th September & Sunday 29th September (Green will be cut & rolled if 3 or more games are played). If arranging a game, please let the GD know.

The official Competition Call is always on the Club Noticeboard, so please check the board whenever you are at the Club.
Any issues with the above Competition Call, please see the Games Director – Keith Whalley. Members, please try to arrange any other Competition games by mutual agreement.
Just a reminder that when you are playing in Club Competitions, you must be in full Club uniform which includes shorts/trousers.
PENNANT
Results: Division 1 had their first win of the competition, defeating Woodgate 63-59 winning on 2 rinks. Division 3 defeated the strong Moore Park team on both rinks winning 52-31. Well done guys! Burnett now leads the table but must win next week to be assured a place in the Finals. Both Divisions 4 & 6 won one rink each but failed to secure the overall win. Teams for next week, as well as the progressive points table will be posted on the Club Noticeboard as soon as they are finalised. Thank you to all members that play Pennant each weekend as your participation is greatly appreciated.

Tuesday 27th August: $300 Open Triples – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.
Wednesday 28th August: ‘Scroungers’ Singles – due to the cold weather and a lack of numbers, Scroungers will be postponed until the weather warms up.
Thursday 29th August: Free Coaching/Practice Drills. Every Thursday commencing at 2.15pm there will be bowls drills/activities set up for anyone that wants to improve their game. The session is suited to all ability levels and is open to all Burnett members, visitors or members from other Clubs. One on one Coaching is also available upon request. Hope to see you there.
Thursday 29th August: Night Bowls – bowls start at 6.30pm, names in by 6pm. Bowl under lights and enjoy a fun filled night with a chance at the ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot which will be $512+ this week. Visitors and those that want to try bowls for the first time will be made to feel very welcome.
Friday 30th August: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.
Saturday 31st August: Pennant Round 6. Social bowls will be Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
COMING EVENTS
Tuesday 10th September – 50/50 Day – where 50 percent of the green fees for the day is returned as prizemoney.
Sunday 22nd September: Meat Tray Day sponsored by Ken’s Kepnock Butchery. Open Pairs 1pm start with meat trays as prizes – 2 x Winners and 2 x Runners Up as well as meat trays for the raffle. There is a nomination sheet at the Club to nominate your team. This event is open to all bowlers/visitors.
CLUB NEWS
Club opening hours: Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11.00am – 9.30pm, Thursday 2.00pm – 9.30pm, Friday 10.00am – 9.30pm, Saturday 10.00am – 6pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2.00pm.
The Goose Club raffle will be drawn on Friday night 30th August at 7pm – Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased during the week from the Bar staff or on Friday night. There are 15 great prizes to be won – you need to be in it to win it! Proceeds from the raffle help to support your Club.
The Member’s Draw will also be held on Friday night 30th August and stands at $150, so come along, have a meal and a few drinks with the chance to win some great cash and prizes.
There will be live entertainment on Friday 30th August presented by Old Bones and the following Friday 6th September entertainment will be provided by ‘The Other Bloke’. Members, Guests, and Visitors are always welcome.
