Members are asked to check the Competition draws and start arranging games by mutual agreement where possible. Competitions can now be played on a Sunday on QRI Bowls days. The next two QRI Sundays are Sunday 15 September & Sunday 29 September (Green will be cut & rolled if 3 or more games are played). If arranging a game, please let the GD know.

PENNANT:
Results: Division 1 lost to Bargara 44-66 winning .5 of a rink. Division 3 defeated Bundaberg 44-38 winning on both rinks. Well done! Division 4 lost to Woodgate at Woodgate, losing by 2 shots in a very close match. Division 6 lost to Bargara, losing on both rinks. Teams for next week, as well as the progressive points table will be posted on the Club Noticeboard on Tuesday. Thank you to all members that play Pennant each weekend as your participation is greatly appreciated.
Team Managers are reminded that selected teams CANNOT be changed without the approval of the Club selectors.

Thursday 22 August: Night Bowls – bowls start at 6.30 pm, names in by 6pm. Bowl under lights and enjoy a fun filled night with a chance at the ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot which will be $498+ this week. Visitors and those that want to try bowls for the first time will be made to feel very welcome.

CLUB NEWS:
Club opening hours: Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11.00am – 9.30pm, Thursday 2.00pm – 9.30pm, Friday 10.00am – 9.30pm, Saturday 10.00am – 6pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2.00pm.
The Goose Club raffle will be drawn on Friday night 23 August at 7 pm – Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased during the week from the Bar staff or on Friday night. There are 15 great prizes to be won – you need to be in it to win it! Proceeds from the raffle help to support your Club.
The Member’s Draw will also be held on Friday night 23 August and stands at $130, so come along, have a meal and a few drinks with the chance to win some great cash and prizes.
There will be live entertainment on Friday 23 August presented by Old Habits and the following Friday 30 August entertainment will be provided by Old Bones. Members, Guests, and Visitors are always welcome.
Woodgate Bowls
Not bowls played Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday due to the wet weather.
Saturday 17 August: What a huge day out on our greens, lots of action with Pennant and Ladies Competition. The Final of the Ladies B grade singles resulted in a win to Daphne Brettell over Judy Stanley. Congratulations Daphne and thanks to Fiona Dowling for marking.
We also had a game of B grade Ladies Pairs which resulted in a win to Suzanne Weir and Val Simpson over Beth Clark-Coolee and Linda Hannah.
Val and Beth are both new bowlers, graduates of the Hannah Saturday morning coaching class, great to see them out taking part in the competition.
The final next week will be between Val and Suzanne against Raeleen and Jenny.
The game of the day had to be the Open Ladies Consistency semi final between Jacquie Rogerson and Robyn Bishop, and what a game it was, keeping marker Gail Lenz well and truly on her toes!
Robyn led in the early part of the game with an 8 on end 2, Jacquie countered this with a 9 on end 6 to take the lead which she held for the remainder of the match.
At one point Jacquie held a lead of 19 but Robyn, never one to throw in the towel, pegged the difference back with a run of high scores.
On end 24 the score stood at 119/116 in Jacquie’s favour, end 25 was a tense one with Robyn taking a 4, and Jacquie a 6 to reach the goal of 125/120 Jacquie will now play Fiona Dowling in the final next Saturday, a game well worth watching!
Sunday 18 August: Robbie Royan’s Day: Today we come together to celebrate the 90th Birthday of our latest Patriarch Robbie Royan.
Robbie is not only a loved and well respected bowls club member, he and his late wife Pat have been here from the beginning being inaugural members of the club.
They were part of a group who obtained the land, levelled the greens, and planted the grass, created a legacy we all enjoy the fruits of today!
Robbie and his Family, the four ‘boys’ grandchildren and great grandchildren were all here this afternoon to enjoy an afternoon of bowls, fun and fellowship to celebrate a life well lived!
