As Queensland Child Protection Week (CPW) nears the Bundaberg Child Protection Week Action Group (CPWAG) invites the community to be part of the impactful initiative.
Taking place from 1 to 7 September the week-long event will have a range of activities for all age groups and professional staff in the Bundaberg Region.
The Bundaberg Child Protection Week Action Group (CPWAG) will be hosting its annual dinner on 6 September, acknowledging community members for supporting children and their families and events during the week.
The major award, designed by local sculptor John Olsen, will be presented to recognise an individual, agency or community group who/that has shown commitment to the theme protection children is everybody’s business in the region. Nominations for the award close 23 August.
The dinner takes place on Friday 6 September at 5.30 pm at The Waves featuring guest speaker, Catherine Tallon from Bundaberg Legal Aid along with entertainment by singer Abigail Williams, raffles and Jeopardy and review of events. Tickets are $50 and can be booked online here by 22 August.

Understanding Emotions sensory activities with Edon Place from 2 to 5 pm on Wednesday 4 September at Alexandra Park Zoo playground.
Rainbow Day for Under 5’s offer a wide range of activities from local agencies from 9 am to 12 pm Friday 6 September at PCYC with a jumping castle, face decoration and a sausage sizzle.
Queensland Health is facilitating a fully booked workshop on infant mental health on 5 September. Participants will hear from specialist paediatrician Dr Danae Robinson and psychiatrist for infant mental health Dr Susan Wilson.
The Bundaberg Child Protection Week Action Group popular colouring in competition will return for this year’s event and is able to be download from the group’s Facebook page.
Mindful Movement sessions with facilitator, Amy Maher, are scheduled with Woongarra State School and Gooburrum State School.
During the June/July school holidays, young people worked with Nefret Vickers to create murals to illustrate their interpretation of the CPW theme.
The murals will be installed at Child Safety Service Centre.
