new library programs Survey

New Bundaberg Library programs are on the way, from history and trivia to board games and crafts, and residents can now nominate their preferred non-technology-based programs in a community survey.

Bundaberg Regional Council Arts, Heritage and Asset Management portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said the survey responses would provide valuable insights to help Council focus resources on meeting community needs while aligning with library and corporate strategic goals.

“Our libraries are cherished community spaces, and we look forward to introducing new adult programs that the community identifies as most important to them,” Cr Learmonth said.

“Adult program options can include social connection group activities, such as engaging in conversations about books or taking part in mindfulness activities including colouring in, through to guest speakers coming in to discuss various topics.”

Cr Learmonth said data from the Bundaberg Regional Libraries Community Survey 2023 revealed 37.6% of respondents visited their local library on a weekly basis, while 34.7% made monthly visits, showcasing the continued appeal and popularity of these facilities.

“The positive feedback from nearly 400 residents in last year’s survey reinforces our commitment to continually improve and expand our library services,” he said.

“We’re encouraging residents to take part in the non-technology-based programs survey to ascertain what would be most valuable to our community.”

Local libraries also offer a diverse range of services for all ages including physical and digital resources for loan, Wi-Fi and computer use, children’s and early literacy programs, technology and digital literacy sessions and author talks.

The latest survey closes on Monday 12 August 2024 and can be completed online here. Alternatively paper copies can be found at all library branches and Council customer service centres.
