Artists have have until Wednesday next week to get their entry form in for the Moore Park Beach Arts Festival Art Awards, with over $4,000 in prize money up for grabs.

Entries close Wednesday 31 July via email or post.

Art Awards Coordinator Jess Newitt said this year’s Art Awards will have extended delivery days and times.

“Artists will have two opportunities to bring their entries to the Moore Park Beach Community Centre – Sunday 11 August from 2 pm to 5 pm and Monday 12 August from 10 am to 1 pm,” Jess said.

“This will give flexibility to people who work or have other commitments”.

All entries will be eligible for the Pat Walker Memorial Perpetual Trophy (Overall “Best in Show” as awarded by the judges) and People’s Choice Award.

Judges for the 2024 Moore Park Beach Art Awards are Marlies Oakley, Kate Neil and John Learmonth.

Entry Fees are $10 for Adults, $5 for Juniors in any section.

Maximum 4 entries overall (maximum 2 entries per section), with prizes up to $500 in individual categories.

“We have been delighted with the response so far and look forward to having all entry forms in by Wednesday 31 July,” Jess said.

This year’s categories are:

  • ACRYLIC PAINTINGS – any subject.                                                                   
  • OIL PAINTINGS – any subject.
  • WATERCOLOUR PAINTINGS – any subject.
  • MIXED MEDIA PAINTINGS – A combination of two or more media or materials such as drawing, painting and/or collage. Wet media (such as acrylic paint, watercolour, ink, or other liquid media) combined with dry media (oil pastels, graphite, crayon).                                                                                                           
  • DRAWING – Example but not limited to graphite pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, coloured pencils, pastels, markers etc.                                                                                         
  • ABSTRACT WORKS ON PAPER OR CANVAS  – Open interpretation in any medium on paper or canvas.
  • SCULPTURE  – Any non-perishable material. Maximum 1 metre x 1 metre and under 10 kilograms.
  • FIBRE ARTS – Works of art created in natural or synthetic fibres.                          
  • PHOTOGRAPHY – Any subject. Entries must have been photographed by the entrant and must be 100% photographic in origin. Images may be digitally altered or enhanced but cannot be created wholly or in part with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
  • FIRST TIME EXHIBITORS – Any subject in any medium.
  • OPEN ACQUISTION – Any subject in any medium.                                         
  • UNDER 18 JUNIOR ACQUISTION – Any subject in any medium.       
  • JUNIOR ARTISTS  6 – 11 years – Any subject in any medium. 
  • JUNIOR ARTISTS  12 – 18 years – Any subject in any medium.            

Winners will be announced at a Gala event on Friday 16 August and will be on display at the Moore Park Beach Arts Festival on Saturday 17 August.

Paper copies are available at the Moore Park Beach Community Association Hub on Sylvan Drive, Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, Bundaberg Art Society’s Hazzard Gallery and The Book Boutique.
