Bundaberg Central Rotary Club’s annual book sale promises to be a treasure trove for literary enthusiasts while raising essential funds for various community projects.
The popular book sale, which is a collaboration between Bundaberg Central Rotary Club and Bundaberg Regional Libraries, returns to the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct from 12–14 July.
Rotary volunteers have been hard at work sorting and categorising books into sections, promising a well-organised shopping experience for attendees with books priced as low as 50 cents each.
Bundaberg Central Rotary Club’s Sarah Duff said the book sale would feature books generously donated by community members and Bundaberg Regional Libraries, ensuring a diverse collection to cater to all tastes and ages.
“It is wonderful to see that books are still treasured by many in the Bundaberg Region, by both young and old,” Sarah said.
“To see children excited about choosing their next book to read is always an experience that never grows old.
“Reading a handheld book is still alive in Bundaberg! Come along and find your next favourite read.”
Sarah said the book sale was always a wonderful fundraiser, which coincided with one of Rotary’s areas of focus – literacy.
She said there would be a fantastic range, including picture books, teen novels, magazines, both fiction and non-fiction books, puzzles and DVDs all for sale.
“Items start from the low price of 50 cents, with more popular or newer books being priced higher,” she said.
“The books on sale are a mixture of ex-library stock and donations from the public.”
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Arts, Heritage and Asset Management portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said supporting Bundaberg Central Rotary Club’s annual book sale aligned with Council’s commitment to enhancing community engagement and education opportunities.
“Bundaberg Regional Council is delighted to continue its longstanding support for the annual book sale, which is a fantastic community event that promotes literacy and a love for reading,” Cr Learmonth said.
“The donation of resources from Bundaberg Regional Libraries not only supports the local organisation but also gives the much-loved books a second chance at life in the community.”
Whether you’re a book enthusiast searching for your next read or a community member eager to support local causes, the Bundaberg Central Rotary Club’s Book Sale is an event not to be missed.
