Tickets for this year’s Taste Bundaberg Festival are on sale from noon today, Wednesday 3 July, with bookings for the popular 10-day event program expected to be snapped up by festival fans.
The annual festival, which runs from 30 August to 8 September, is a gourmet food lovers delight, with a variety of events to tantalise tastebuds and fill the pantry with the region’s freshest produce.
Launching the festival with a party vibe, Fri-YAY will feature the laidback tunes of the Bermuda Social Band and locally produced beverages, with food trucks on site for patrons to purchase a casual dinner to enjoy by the coast at Bargara.
Bringing a touch of glamour to the festival this year is the hotly anticipated Mayor’s Beach Ball, a gala event on Saturday 31 August, with a sumptuous whole feast dinner prepared by returning Taste ambassador celebrity chef Colin Fassnidge.
Council’s Tourism, Airport and Information Technology Services portfolio spokesperson Councillor Steve Cooper said the festival was an important annual showcase of the region’s growers, food producers and chefs.
“Taste Bundaberg Festival celebrates the agricultural heart of our region,” Cr Cooper said.
“Over the 10 day program, and through the free Taste Bundaberg Market and Taste Trail, festival goers have the opportunity to meet local growers, buy farm fresh produce, and experience the flavours of Queensland’s food bowl.”
Cr Cooper said the program had dozens of events across the region to choose from, with new and returning events to enjoy.
“This year’s festival program has a wide range of dining experiences – from canapes, picnics and barbeques to feasts, formal dinners and elegant brunches, there is something to suit everyone,” Cr Cooper said.
“I encourage everyone to check out the program online and get in quick, as we know tickets to popular events like the launch party and masterclass sell out fast.”
