Burnett Men

CARIBOU CUP – THIS SUNDAY the 7th of July.

Players and visitors from other Clubs are most welcome.

$1000 Prizemoney: Open 3 Bowl Triples with a ‘Paddle Pop’ draw for teams. Nominate as a lead, second or skip and teams will be randomly drawn for the day. 2 games of 13 ends. $20 green fees which includes lunch. Pay by 9.30am for a 10am start.

Nominations will close at 5pm on Friday. To nominate phone the Club on 41514217 or John Bary on 0466539441.

Prizemoney as follows: Winning team $390, 2nd place $180, 3rd place $90. Winners of the losers $180 per team, 2nd losing team $90, 3rd losing team $75. The annual Caribou Cup is proudly sponsored by AIM HEARING and a VIETNAM VETEREN.

So come along and enjoy some great fellowship and play with someone new for the chance to win some great cash prizes. Everyone welcome.

COMPETITION

Members are asked to check the Competition draws and start arranging games by mutual agreement where possible.

Competitions can now be played on a Sunday on QRI Bowls days.

The next two QRI Sundays are Sunday 14th July 9.00am and Sunday 21st July 9.00am. (Green will be cut & rolled). If arranging a game, please let the GD know.

Just a reminder that when you are playing in Club Competitions, you must be in full Club uniform which includes shorts/trousers.

Champion of Champion Pairs

The District C of C Pairs is being played this weekend. Good luck and good bowling to our Burnett representatives – Keith Whalley and Darryl Austin. They play Saturday afternoon against Elliott Heads at ATW. Winners from Saturdays games play the Semi Finals and Final on Sunday at Bargara.

PENNANT

Inter-Club Pennant starts on Saturday the 27th of July. Thank you to all members that indicated that they will be available to play. Burnett will have teams in the following Divisions: Divisions 1,3,4, & 5. Div 1 has 3 teams of 4 and the remaining Divisions have 2 teams of 4.

The Club selectors will meet within the next 2 weeks to select the teams for round 1, so keep an eye on the Club Noticeboard for team selections.

SOCIAL BOWLS EVENTS

Visitors are most welcome on all playing days. Entry sheets are at the club or phone the Club on 41514217 during opening hours.

Tuesday 2nd July: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.

Wednesday 3rd July: ‘Scroungers’ Singles – this is a fun game of Singles similar to consistency singles where points are allocated to the 4 closest bowls to the jack. Games are played over 12 ends with no driving allowed. Names in by 6.15pm with games starting at 6.30pm.

Green fees are $10 with 50 percent of the green fees being returned as prize money. All ability levels are welcome so come along for a fun night out.

Thursday 4th July: Night Bowls – bowls start at 6.30pm, names in by 6pm. Bowl under lights and enjoy a fun filled night with a chance at the ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot which will be $416+ this week.

Visitors and those that want to try bowls for the first time will be made to feel very welcome.

COMING EVENTS

Tuesday 9th July: 50/50 Day – where 50 percent of the green fees for the day is returned as prize money. Guaranteed minimum of $200 Prize money. Open 3 bowl pairs – (Men’s, Ladies or Mixed)

Sunday 21st July: QRI $500 Seafood Day. Open to all players, barefoot bowlers and visitors. Names in by Saturday 20th July – $10 green fees. More information to follow.

CLUB NEWS 

Club opening hours: Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11.00am – 9.30pm, Thursday 2.00pm – 9.30pm, Friday 10.00am – 9.30pm, Saturday 10.00am – 6pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2.00pm.

The Goose Club raffle will be drawn on Friday night 28th June at 7pm – Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased during the week from the Bar staff or on Friday night.

There are 15 great prizes to be won – you need to be in it to win it! Proceeds from the raffle help to support your Club.

The Member’s Draw will also be held on Friday night 5th July and stands at $90, so come along, have a meal and a few drinks with the chance to win some great cash and prizes.

There will be live entertainment on Friday 5th July presented by ‘The Other Bloke’ and the following Friday 12th July entertainment will be provided by Bradz Rock N Rhythm. Members, Guests, and Visitors are always welcome.

A Courtesy Bus is now available on a Friday Night. The first pick up will be any time after 5pm and the final return trip will be 9pm. To make a booking call 0413335767 after 4pm and speak to the driver directly. (Bundaberg Suburban areas only). A small donation to help cover fuel costs would be appreciated. Started in light misty rain, no break for afternoon tea but finished before the rain could call time!

What a fabulous day we had today, generously sponsored by Fred and Shirley Hampson, Childers, Woodgate Funeral Services.

We had a very successful day with 78 players, up 12 on last year with 6 players from the  Burnett District ( Murgon, Eidsvold areas some taking home prize money) as well as our staunch supporters from the south.

The greens were running well, thanks to Aaron and his band of volunteers.

Two games of 14 ends with a tasty lunch served in between and nibbles after the game again sponsored by Fred and Shirley.

Today we had the semi final and the final of the Mens District Singles.

Our own Bob Winzar played in the morning semi final against Paul Kajewski, however Paul proved to be too strong on the day moving into the afternoon final against Chris Gallagher.

Thanks to our local men who marked the games: Brian Cornish (final), Col Lowe and Col Ensby.

Special thanks to Rob Anderson who stood as Umpire for the day.
