Update 25 June: Due to forecast rain on Thursday 27 June the popular Flourish Family Fun Day, incorporating Welcome Baby Celebration, will be postponed until the September school holidays.
All those who registered for the Welcome Baby Ceremony will be able to collect their packs and certificates at the re-scheduled event in September.
Earlier: Boreham Park will be transformed into a hub of activity as Flourish Family Fun Day returns on 27 June.
A popular event on the community calendar, this year’s theme will be ‘Aussie Animals’ with activities such as rides, face painting, arts and crafts and even a petting zoo.
Flourish Family Fun Day also includes the Welcome Baby Celebration where Bundaberg Regional Council acknowledges the region’s newest community members.
Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn said the well-loved community event was one not to be missed.
“Flourish Family Fun Day is a wonderful way for families to connect and find out what services and support are on offer to them throughout the region,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone for a morning of fun, especially our newest residents as part of the Welcome Baby Celebrations.
“There will be something for everyone, with new activities like the petting zoo and familiar favourites like the Teddy Bear Parade.”
The free event will feature a line-up of entertainment on the main stage throughout the morning as well as a range of stalls hosted by community services, organisations and businesses working with families.
Those interested in attending as stall holders or food vendors still have time to do so with registrations closing on 13 June.
“Last year’s event attracted three to four thousand visitors, with 42 stallholders in attendance,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“It’s a great reason for the community to gather together and for service and support organisations to engage with families in a way that is not only interactive but informative as well.”
