Champion of Champion Singles
Congratulations to Mark Mizzi for reaching the Final of the District Champion of Champion Singles on the weekend. The Final was played at Woodgate in good conditions with Mark playing some great draw bowls. The Final was a sea sawing affair with no more than 2 shots separating the two players for the duration of the match. With the score locked at 23-23 Tim Smith from ATW drew two close bowls which Mark could not replicate or remove and dropped two shots to lose the match. Both players demonstrated a high level of skill in what was a high-quality final. Well played Mark! Thank you to the Burnett members that drove to Woodgate to watch the Final as I am sure that Mark appreciated the support.

Tuesday 25th June: $300 Open Triples – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.
Wednesday 26th June: ‘Scroungers’ Singles – this is a fun game of Singles similar to consistency singles where points are allocated to the 4 closest bowls to the jack. Games are played over 12 ends with no driving allowed. Names in by 6.15pm with games starting at 6.30pm. Green fees are $10 with 50 percent of the green fees being returned as prize money. All ability levels are welcome so come along for a fun night out.
Thursday 27th June: Night Bowls – bowls start at 6.30pm, names in by 6pm. Bowl under lights and enjoy a fun filled night with a chance at the ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot which will be $416+ this week. Visitors and those that want to try bowls for the first time will be made to feel very welcome.
Friday 28th June: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.

Tuesday 9th July: 50/50 Day – where 50 percent of the green fees for the day is returned as prize money. Guaranteed minimum of $200 Prize money. (Men’s, Ladies or Mixed)

Club opening hours: Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11.00am – 9.30pm, Thursday 2.00pm – 9.30pm, Friday 10.00am – 9.30pm, Saturday 10.00am – 6pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2.00pm.
The Goose Club raffle will be drawn on Friday night 28th June at 7pm – Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased during the week from the Bar staff or on Friday night. There are 15 great prizes to be won – you need to be in it to win it! Proceeds from the raffle help to support your Club.
The Member’s Draw will also be held on Friday night 28th June and stands at $70, so come along, have a meal and a few drinks with the chance to win some great cash and prizes.
There will be live entertainment on Friday 28th June presented by Keely Ellen and the following Friday 5th July entertainment will be provided by ‘The Other Bloke’. Members, Guests, and Visitors are always welcome.
A Courtesy Bus is now available on a Friday Night. The first pick up will be any time after 5pm and the final return trip will be 9pm. To make a booking call 0413335767 after 4pm and speak to the driver directly. (Bundaberg Suburban areas only). A small donation to help cover fuel costs would be appreciated. Hugely exciting day on our greens today with the ‘Mens Singles Champion of Champions’ competition played out on our amazing grass greens.
Semi finals played in the morning between:
Rink 11: Chris Hooper and Mark Mizzi Resulting in a win to Mark Mizzi Rink 12:Tim Smith and Liam Kronk Resulting in a win to Tim Smith The Final in the afternoon kept the crowd on the edge of their seats with great shots from both players.
The score was even on the second last end 23 all, a 2 from Tim sealed the match in his favour. The final result, a win to Tim Smith 23/25 Thanks to Ian Kirby who stood as Umpire for the day.
