Warm up this winter with hot new exhibitions and engaging creative events all season long at Bundaberg Regional Galleries.

The Galleries Winter Program, released this week, includes a range of inspiring and thought-provoking exhibitions that will keep visitors enthralled throughout the colder months.

Council’s Arts, Heritage and Asset Management Portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said the new program had a lot on offer.

“From Pride month celebrations to a retrospective of Childers Visual Arts Group, the Galleries Winter Program has a great range of program and exhibitions to look forward to,” he said.

“We are really pleased to also offer some fantastic masterclasses and professional development workshops for the region’s artists to gain new skills.

“Along with the new events we will have the usual favourites like our artists talks and art walks so be sure to pick up a copy of the Winter Program, or have a look online.”

Kicking off the Winter Program on Saturday 1 June, The Closet showcases the work of 10 artists as part of a special celebration of diversity and inclusion.

Alongside the exhibition, there will be a range of complimentary public programs including an arts trivia night, school holiday activities, and a chance for local creatives to cover the Gallery floor with colourful drawings.

In mid-July, the launch of three new exhibitions will see female artists take over all display spaces at Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, with the opening of XX, an exhibition of contemporary female ceramicists, Always Soft, Always Strong by artist Karike Ashworth, and an installation from Ironing Maidens, Mother Controller.

Throughout July and August, masterclasses lead by exhibiting artists will appeal to local creators who want to learn new skills and advance their creative practices in landscape painting, pottery, and underglazing.

Childers Arts Space will open Creation Station: A Retrospective, a celebration of the over 20 years of creativity and community engagement from the Childers Visual Arts Group.

Timed to coincide with the Childers Festival, Creation Station: A Retrospective challenged each artist to select artworks that reflected their creative journey, with the resulting exhibition curated by Galleries Director Rebecca McDuff.
