There’s a smart new way to search for grant opportunities with Bundaberg Regional Council’s new digital database, SmartySearch.
SmartySearch makes it free and easy for community groups, not for profits, businesses, sporting clubs, schools and individuals to search more than 5,500 grant opportunities from around Australia.
The database is updated daily by the Funding Centre, an initiative of social enterprise Our Community which provides advice, tools and training to community groups nationally.
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Community Liveability, Sport and Recreation Portfolio spokesperson Councillor Carmen McEneany said the SmartySearch database would give the community more funding options while also saving on time and cost.
“Council frequently gets approached by groups, individuals or businesses looking for financial assistance,” Cr McEneany said.
“Generally this leads to researching and trying to identify what other options are available.
“SmartySearch alleviates this problem by giving everyone access to an up-to-date, nationwide database of grants which are normally stuck behind paywalls.
“This saves time for both Council and community members with no more waiting for emails or being stuck paying for subscriptions.”
The SmartySearch database is already available and ready for use on the Bundaberg Regional Council website.
“We want to encourage the increase of funding to the region whether it be through businesses, individuals or not for profit organisations,” Cr McEneany said.
“We hope that SmartySearch helps to create awareness about the grants available and that local groups and individuals start including it as an important tool in their search for funding.”
