Local families are invited to head along for a morning of art, culture and fun at the Childers Under 8’s Day on Tuesday 21 May.
This year’s theme is ‘connecting to culture through play’ and amongst other activities participants can experience the traditional art of ochre.
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Community Resilience and Connection Portfolio spokesperson Councillor Tracey McPhee said the event was an excellent way to get children engaged in cultural activities.
“This event is part of Under Eights Week, which is a special time to celebrate and recognise the importance of early childhood education and care,” she said.
“It aims to highlight the unique needs, development and learning experiences of young children.
“It is a fantastic way for the community to make connections and encourage positive family relationships.”
Children can get involved in nature-based play with Wild Gully Play and enjoy the family favourite of the animal farm.
There will also be face painting, arts and crafts and a jumping castle for the under eights.
The day has been coordinated by the Isis Child and Family Support Service in partnership with local primary schools, high schools and Early Childhood Educational Services.
