Bundaberg Christian College (BCC) has commenced construction of its new state-of-the-art undercover sports centre with the exciting project set to transform the BCC campus and provide the school’s rising sport stars with modern sporting and fitness facilities.
Principal Paul Thompson said the new sports centre was a significant milestone in providing students at BCC with a world-class sporting development program.
Designed by Parups Waring Architecture and managed by Murchie Constructions, the sports centre will feature two full-size multisport courts to facilitate a wide range of sporting activities, including basketball, netball, tennis, volleyball, badminton and more.
BCC students will also enjoy a fully equipped gymnasium and flexible open-teaching spaces.
“In addition to delivering excellence in academic education, the expansion of our sporting program is a key strategic focus,” Mr Thompson said.
“Our undercover sports centre will provide students with ample space to develop their sporting skills.
“With this new and versatile facility, plus our existing multipurpose hall and extensive outdoor fields, we will be able to run multiple lessons and sporting competitions at the same time.
“Sport and physical wellbeing, alongside the development of teamwork and social skills, is such an integral part of how BCC provides students with a holistic education and helps students to grow in their character development.
“The sports centre is the next instalment of our building Master Plan, and we are well positioned to provide our students with facilities that will give them exceptional sporting opportunities.”
The sports centre will be completed towards the end of 2024.
