Locals interested in delving even deeper into the world of Bert Hinkler can enjoy the new free exhibition Bert: Out of the archive II – Wartime Connections.
Open from 2 February to 27 April, the exhibition follows on from the success of last year’s ‘Bert’: Out of the archive exhibition, which featured never-before-seen items of memorabilia that form part of the Hinkler Hall of Aviation Memorabilia Trust Collection.
‘Bert’: Out of the archive II will allow visitors a further glimpse into Bert’s connection to war through unique new items including objects, photographs and newspaper articles specially curated by the Hinkler Hall of Aviation team.
The exhibition will be a rare opportunity for locals and visitors to discover more of Bert’s story and his connection, both first and second hand, primarily to World War I and II.
‘Bert’: Out of the archive II is free to view at the Lex Rowland Gallery at the Hinkler Hall of Aviation, with normal admission fees applying for the Exhibition Hall.
There will also be a fascinating free guided tour of the exhibition on 24 April from 2-3 pm as part of the Australian Heritage Festival, with afternoon tea provided. While the tour is free, spaces are limited so book your tickets here.
