UPDATE: Due to weather and safety concerns, Bundaberg Regional Galleries has made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s Artisans Market.
For those hoping to grab unique gifts at the event stallholders will have their Christmas stock available in the Gallery Shop, located inside Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, over the weekend.
EARLIER: The popular Twilight Artisan Market will return to Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery and Gallery Park, just in time to pick up a Christmas gift for someone special.
Stroll through the market under the soft glow of fairy lights and lanterns, and browse a stunning array of handcrafted gifts, one-of-a-kind artworks and exquisite goods.
There will also be live music and festive treats to help shoppers get into the spirit of the season.
Bundaberg Regional Council Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said the market was a great opportunity to support local makers.
“The Twilight Artisan Market is a real showcase of the creative talents we have in the region,” Cr Learmonth said.
“It is also a fantastic occasion to pick up something unique and handmade for Christmas.
“I encourage everyone to drop by this wonderful event and help make the festive season brighter by supporting local artisans.”
Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery will stay open late, giving Twilight Artisan Market Christmas event visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the world of the legendary comic book hero The Phantom.
Phantom: Off the Drawing Board celebrates the almost 90-year history of Lee Falk’s iconic creation and showcases the Australian illustrators who have helped keep the character so popular in Australia, including the region’s own Phantom illustrator, Shane Foley.
Enter the exhibition through the mouth of The Phantom’s Skull Cave, painted on site by Shane, and enjoy the unique opportunity to see original illustrations, vintage comic covers and rare collectibles.
View artworks from nationally recognised artists in The Phantom Response, a complimentary exhibition that brings together a diverse group of artists who each responded to The Phantom’s iconic persona through their own art style.
The Twilight Artisan Market is part of the 2023 Christmas Program, which features 28 Council and community events happening across the region from 30 November to 22 December.
