Accessibility improvements are continuing at a busy Maryborough Street intersection as works are completed on the George Street intersection with the focus now on the eastern pedestrian entry points.
Each of the four pedestrian crossings at the busy intersection are undergoing safety upgrades to increase accessibility.
The upgrade improves access by reducing the slope and widening the pedestrian ramps, adding tactile surfaces and ensuring traffic light crossing buttons are placed at an accessible height.
The Maryborough and George Streets intersections have a high level of vehicle and pedestrian activity, providing access to Hinkler Shopping Centre and a number of nearby businesses.
George Street reopened to normal pedestrian activity on 3 November as work continues at the eastern side during the coming weeks.
Bundaberg Regional Council is committed to improving accessibility throughout the region and has previously received feedback from community members.
