Holiday makers of all abilities can now enjoy overnight stays at Burnett Heads ‘Lighthouse’ Holiday Park thanks to a new family friendly and fully accessible cabin available for hire.
The completed two-bedroom cabin is part of Bundaberg Regional Council’s aim to continuously improve local holiday parks for use by locals and visitors to the region.
The project made use of a Queensland Government grant from the Tourism Experience Development Fund for the construction of facilities to deliver new and enhanced tourism products and experiences, including accessible and inclusive tourism.
The cabin was purpose built and incorporates accessible features such as an access ramp, parking space, circulation spaces and all switches and fan controls being larger than usual and at a specifically designated height.
The bathroom includes grabrails and tap fittings with lever handles for ease of use while the kitchen has work surfaces at a consistent level with clearance underneath and a fridge with a bottom-mounted freezer for ease of access.
The cabin is available for hire and booking details can be found here.
Those looking for accessible accommodation in the region can also make use of a similar accessible cabin at Elliott Heads Holiday Park with features such as spacious rooms, inclined surfaces, grabrails and ramps.
