A playground in the Gin Gin CBD will undergo an upgrade to feature nature play equipment providing a different experience to nearby parks.
Located near the entrance to town the Gin Gin Streetscape Playground South upgrade will offer a varied play experience for both residents and visitors to the area.
The existing play equipment has reached the end of its useable life and will be removed and replaced with nature play items by local company Willplay.
The upgrade will include nature play items including equipment such as sandstone blocks for general play, timber balance beams and steppers, sand softfall and a garden bed and a small open grassed area.
A section of the footpath around the playground will be closed to ensure the safety of the community during the project.
Pedestrians are asked to take note of signage as some of the carparking spaces in the immediate area will be utilised by the project team while work is underway.
Two nearby shelters will remain in place to allow adequate seating and shelter next to the upgraded play space.
Works to remove the existing play equipment are set to start in the coming days with the new nature play items installed by the end of November.
There will be minor disruption during the project.
While this area will be closed during the construction the community will still have access to the following playgrounds in Gin Gin:
- Apex Park in Mulgrave Street
- Kolan Community Park playground at the Gin Gin Hub
- Dear Street Park playground in Dear Street
The Gin Gin Streetscape Playground South upgrade has been funded through the Council’s Capital Works Program.
