Community members are invited to experience a taste of Africa at the Culture Bites event hosted by the Bundaberg and District Neighbourhood Centre at the Civic Centre on Saturday 14 October.
Culture Bites aims to connect the community by celebrating the many cultures that make up the Bundaberg Region.
Bundaberg and District Neighbourhood Centre Settlement Engagement and Transition Support Coordinator Maggie Xu said this flagship event was aimed to recognise the value of the region’s multicultural community.
“This time we are presenting an African theme in partnership with the Africans in Bundaberg group,” Maggie said.
“This is an opportunity to experience the flavours and culture of Africa along with various cuisines from other countries.
“This event provides members in the wider community with a great opportunity to get to know and appreciate different cultures while enjoying cuisine and making friends.”
Maggie said all community members were welcome to attend and encouraged to wear traditional dress.
The event is free for those who bring a plate of food from their culture to share or $5 for those who don’t.
“Apart from experiencing a variety of cuisines from different cultures there will be African cultural performances and presentations,” Maggie said.
“Culture Bites is a great opportunity to showcase and promote multiculturalism and harmony in the Bundaberg Region.”
