Community members are invited to join local botanist Maureen Schmitt and Council for a free wildflower guided walk in Vera Scarth-Johnson Wildflower Reserve.
Vera Scarth-Johnson Wildflower Reserve is found nestled between the Elliott River and Coonarr on a 93 hectare sanctuary bursting with rare plants and diverse colours.
The reserve was named after Vera Scarth-Johnson, an artist and conservationist who lived in the region between 1940 and 1970.
Participants will be provided with a free Wallum Wildflower Guide and during the walk will be shown how to use it to identify the variety of plants found in the reserve.
The Wildflower Guided Walk will be held between 9 am to 10 am on Monday 21 August and Friday 1 September.
The walk will be approximately 2 km return and the tracks will have a sandy surface and are of a reasonable gradient.
It is advised participants wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, hat, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes and bring adequate drinking water.
The free wildflower guided walk has limited places and bookings are essential.
