Dog owners in the Bundaberg Region can now sign-up to receive their annual registration renewal notice via email.
Bundaberg Regional Council has introduced a digital e-registration service, which offers dog owners the convenience of receiving their renewal notice wherever they may be.
Residents who register with the service can also update their details online and register a new dog.
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Health, Compliance and Enforcement portfolio spokesperson Councillor May Mitchell said the email notification service would help residents stay up to date with their dog registration.
“Dog registration fees help fund vital animal management services and projects like new dog off-leash parks,” Cr Mitchell said.
“Signing up for the email notification is simple and easy for dog owners and takes about five minutes.”

Why is dog registration important?
- All dog registration fees go back into Council’s animal management initiatives for dogs.
- Registered dogs and responsible pet ownership help to ensure the safety of our community.
- Registering and microchipping your dog can help it be returned home sooner, should it become lost.
Dog registration renewal fees can be used to:
- Manage dog-related requests like barking dogs or dog attack investigations.
- Care for and rehome impounded and abandoned animals.
- Deliver dog off-leash areas and facilities.
The animal registration period for dogs is 1 September to 31 August.
Dog owners must register their dog once it reaches 12 weeks of age, within 14 days of acquiring a new dog or within 14 days of moving to the Bundaberg region.
Once registered, dog owners receive their registration renewal notice in July each year.
