The old BMG building in the CBD has been given a new lease on life as The Hub Christian Bookstore takes over the central location.
Situated along Bourbong Street, the space has been vacant for some time but was recently deemed the perfect spot to move into by local church Restoration Centre.
Manager of the bookstore Jennie Brown said it was a step up from The Hub’s last location in the CBD and was providing plenty more space for extra projects.
“Our new church is going in next door and we wanted to be in the centre of town to serve the community,” she said.
“This is a good central location, it is a bigger store and we have the opportunities to make it what we want it [to] be.
“We are hoping to expand our café range, we are a much bigger store and are expanding into new lines of stock as well.”
The Restoration Centre is a Christian church group made up of more than 200 local members.
Jennie said the group were extremely community minded and met three times a week to provide food to those doing it tough.
She said the bookstore was another way the church was offering support in the region.
“The Hub is open to absolutely anyone,” Jennie said.
“We have an amazing group of people who staff the store and welcome visitors with a friendly smile.
“It is a place where people can come and hang out, chat to someone, buy books, resources and giftware etc.”
The Hub Christian Bookstore offers a range of items for sale including books, earrings, mugs, wall art, puzzles and more.
