The term 3 Be Active Be Alive (BABA) program now features walking classes in addition to the range of free activities suitable for all fitness levels.
BABA is a Bundaberg Regional Council program that provides an inclusive mix of activities across the region’s parks, pools and open spaces.
It is aligned with the Eat, Breathe, Move initiative which promotes physical activity by recognising the connection between metabolism, breathing and movement.
Sport and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Cr Vince Habermann said walking would now be part of the upcoming program, with participants given the opportunity to go at their own pace on a 10,000 Steps activity around the Botanic Gardens pathways.
“This Eat, Breathe, Move initiative encourages Bundaberg locals to get out and get moving and one of the simplest ways we can move more is just by going for a walk,” he said.
“Walking can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter what your age or fitness ability, and is a great way to be active and improve your physical, mental and social wellbeing.”
The guided walk will begin weekly from Monday 24 July to Saturday 16 September.
“Not only will it be a great way to get your heart rate up, but it will also highlight some of our region’s 10,000 Steps Pathways and the beautiful gardens,” Cr Habermann said.
Eat, Breathe, Move…WALK! will be happening weekly between:
- Monday 24 July – 15 September
- Monday 16 October – Friday 8 December
