Bundaberg Regional Galleries has released its latest program packed full of upcoming exhibitions and events from July to September.
The free booklet is available at both the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery and Childers Arts Space and contains all the details you need to know to add to your calendar.
The cover features the work of artist, Jay Feather, a well-known artist formerly of Bundaberg, who will have her solo exhibition called Something Kind of Wonderful at the gallery from 8 July to 27 August.
Well known for her colourful pieces, Jay has drawn on her memories of Bundaberg and an innate sense of fun to transform The Vault into a playground of joy.
Complementing this sense of play will be multi-disciplinary artist Chloe Smith’s exhibition showcasing her latest hyperreal representations of food.
Entitled Trying to Enjoy the Fruits of my Labour, Chloe’s sculptures celebrate silliness and aims to create a world where playing with your food is strongly encouraged.
The program also features a list of events taking place at the gallery including two rock themed evenings to celebrate Pub Rock, the National Portrait Gallery’s touring exhibition.
Rock On will celebrate all things ’80s Aussie pub rock with live music, themed food and a paid bar available.
Or sign up a team to enter Oz Rock Trivia and test who knows their Hoodoo Gurus from their Skyhooks.
Council’s Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said there was plenty on offer for those visiting local galleries over the upcoming months.
“It’s wonderful that our galleries can be spaces to exhibit locally inspired work as well as nationally touring exhibitions,” he said.
“There are some exciting new events to look forward to as well as the usual favourites like our artists talks and art walks so make sure to pick up your copy or have a look online.”
