Audiences will be immersed in the music and life of Leonard Cohen when Jonathan Anstock performs The Spirit of Leonard Cohen at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre.
Leonard Cohen was best known for the song he wrote in 1984, Hallelujah, which has since been recorded by more than 300 artists.
Jonathan and his soulful band will perform some of Cohen’s most iconic songs on stage at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre on 23 June.
“The Bundaberg audience can expect a vibrant and soul moving biographical cabaret delivered by a sensational seven-piece band, showcasing Cohen’s iconic songs and fascinating life,” Jonathan said.
“We’re all excited to come to Bundaberg for the first time [to] perform at the special Moncrieff Theatre, our first show of our exciting winter tour up to Cairns, having performed to sell-out audiences on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane with rave reviews.
Punctuated by Cohen’s poetry and insightful stories, Jonathan said the sublime biographical cabaret would capture the essence of the late legend’s powerful works.
“Hallelujah is probably more famous that the singer-songwriter himself having been recorded by 300 artists,” he said.
“But what lived in Leonard Cohen’s soul and spirit?
“His life of poetry, song writing, drugs, sex, spiritual searching, depression, political thought and eventual peace are all exposed in this sublime tribute.”
