Local artists can prepare for the upcoming Moore Park Beach Arts Festival with a series of workshops from 24 June to 9 July.
The workshops, run by Moore Park Beach Arts Inc., will take place at the Moore Park Community Centre with the aim of helping local creatives make the most of their submissions ahead of the festival on 19 August.
Workshop Coordinator Cathie Harvey said the classes had something for everyone.
“We have a total of 10 workshops including watercolour workshops with Colleen Helmore, who has just returned from a painting trip to Italy” she said.
“There will also be pastels and acrylics with Julie Appo, a workshop teaching artists on how to photograph their artwork with Natasha Harth, through to an advanced two-day collage and painting workshop with last year’s Pat Walker Memorial Award winner, Maz Vizard.
“There will be some brilliant workshops during the school holidays for families too including a turtle workshop and nature art workshop with Pascaline Emms that are designed to be a creative and inspiring experience for both kids and adults and two mixed media sculpting workshops for participants aged 12 plus with Larissa Dabrowski.”
Workshops will be held at Moore Park Beach Community Centre from 24 June to 9 July.
Meanwhile, arrangements are progressing for the Moore Park Beach Arts Festival, according to Moore Park Beach Arts Inc President Trish Mears.
“Our Junior Opening on Friday 18 August is going to be fabulous this year, with a combined school choir, Kalkie Drum Band and announcement of winners of the Moore Park Beach Pharmacy School Art Competition,” she said.
“The Art Competition Awards on the Friday night are shaping up to be a great night. The art competition entry forms are being finalised now, with some exciting new categories this year.
“The Arts Festival day on Saturday 19 August is going to have all the favourites – the art competition, stage entertainment, market and food stalls and kites on the beach, but we have some exciting additions this year, including a ‘circles in the sand’ beach art competition.”
