The Moncrieff Entertainment Centre lights will shine on Bundaberg State High School students early next month as they bring the Disney classic, High School Musical, to life on stage.
Excited and talented students and staff members have spent months pulling the show together, one they believe will be a hit with audiences.
The popular stage musical showcases many students in major and minor roles and a large ensemble cast, with a live stage band also adding a special dimension to the show.
As well, students from Years 7 to 12 have worked tirelessly painting sets and making props to add to the spectacle audiences will enjoy.
Musical Director, Britta Munce, is full of praise for the team.
“Many teachers have given up their weekends and afternoons to rehearse with the students, learning songs, dance moves, and dialogue,” she said.
“I’m sure they will be happy to get some positive feedback from the audiences on opening night and over the three shows, watching all their hard work and energy paying off.”
This commitment to the arts is not out of the ordinary for Bundaberg State High School.
“We strive every year to give our Performing Arts students something authentic to work towards, whether it’s a school musical or Eisteddfod competitions or taking part in the national Wakakirri storytelling competition,” Miss Munce said.
The team behind the upcoming show is confident that most teenagers and millennials will know at least a couple of the songs and will join in the fun with the students.
“They can sing, they can dance, they can act… what more do you need for a good night out at the theatre,” Miss Munce said.
Tickets are priced affordably so that the whole family can enjoy the performance.
Remember, we’re all in this together!
