Clancy is Alexandra Park Zoo’s resident north-western red-tailed black cockatoo, Calyptorhynchus banksii, who loves to dance in the rain and chew on gum nuts.
After 17 years, Clancy’s owner was no longer able to keep him and he is now cared for at the zoo where he will live out the rest of his days.
You will often see the friendly bird snacking on his favourite Casuarina seeds and grevilia flowers and enjoying the fresh vegetation supplied by his keepers and greeting visitors.
Clancy shares his exhibit with a female cockatoo named Sunny.
