Bundaberg Tourism has been invited to join the Australian Tourism Export Council’s South Queensland Leadership Group, with Trade and Industry Development Executive Loni Hammond to be the voice of the region and local dedicated tourism operators.
ATEC is the peak body of inbound tourism in Australia.
It supports the industry by working closely alongside Tourism and Events Queensland and numerous regional tourism organisations to grow international opportunities and business capability through connections with distribution opportunities in key overseas markets and delivering training and development programs.
Loni has nearly 20 years of experience as a leading force behind Bundaberg and SGBR’s trade presence.
Prior to her appointment as Trade & Industry Development Executive, Loni ran the award-winning Kellys Beach Resort alongside her family and has worked closely with Bundaberg Tourism and the SGBR RTOs to grow the region’s international profile and distribution of product.
Combining her passion for sustainability and industry development, Loni will represent Bundaberg at regular Group meetings and in leadership forums, and will be part of industry education and networking events.
Bundaberg Tourism Acting CEO, Ellie Tonkin said Loni was an incredible advocate for Bundaberg and the SGBR and her appointment to the ATEC SQ Leadership Group was a result of her years of dedication to growing the destination internationally.
“Her role at Kellys Beach Resort has seen the resort recognized as the first and longest standing trade operator in the SGBR region,” sje saod/
“Since joining Bundaberg Tourism to lead our trade development portfolio, she has taken Bundaberg into new territory in the international trade space, despite this being one of the most challenging times for our industry.
“Over her years of working with tourism trade, Loni has built up respected relationships with both our SGBR tourism operators and with our international trade partners.
“She will provide passionate advocacy for Southern Great Barrier Reef and will be part of growing the market share for the entire state.”
ATEC’s Regional Manager Jennifer Bruce, looks forward to welcoming Loni to the Leadership Group.
“Loni’s experience with product representation, collaboration and advocacy on behalf of the whole Southern Great Barrier Reef region will truly be a wonderful asset to the ATECs SQ Leadership Group. Welcome Loni!” she said.
Loni said she was honored to be invited to the committee and was excited to be Bundaberg’s voice.
“With borders open and inbound visitors gradually returning to Australia, there is exciting potential to continue to develop and grow the positioning of SGBR in international markets, and I look forward to working with the Leadership Group on maximizing opportunities for Bundaberg and the whole of our industry,” she said.
