Members of the Bundaberg Quilters Inc are supporting local community organisations through the raffle of a large, handmade quilt.
Every year the club offers one quilt, created by some of its 143 members, to a not-for-profit group to utilise in their fundraising efforts
Publicity officer Kim Lomax said the tradition would continue this year as part of preparations for the organisation’s Biennial Quilt Expo in 2023.
“A small team of our dedicated members are involved in the making of the quilt using their design, sewing and quilting skills,” she said.
“The not-for-profit recipient, by selling and promoting the quilt raffle, benefit from all raffle ticket sales which can then help them financially to carry on with their charitable work in our community
“Bundaberg Quilters Inc also make and donate a large number of both adult, children’s and baby quilts to various organisations and hospitals in Bundaberg.”
Kim said organisations could apply now to be in the draw to receive the fundraising rights for the large patchwork quilt.
She said once announced, the chosen organisation would receive a photo and details of the quilt to be raffled off at the Biennial Quilt Expo.
“We are proud to offer a beautifully-made quilt at our Biennial Quilt Expo, to assist with a charitable organisations fund raising activities,” Kim said.
