Bundaberg artist and Kalkadoon woman Brooke Sutton has collaborated with T2 Tea to provide her contemporary Indigenous artwork to richly adorn the latest collection of tea wares.

Bursting with a kaleidoscope of vibrant colours the T2 Tea Brooke Sutton collection contains a large tea pot, a tea-for-one set, a large and a small teacup, saucers, a mug with infuser and a tea tin.

It was a quick Zoom meeting between the Kalkadoon woman and T2 Tea representatives that had secured the Indigenous artist a collaboration contract to create not only an eye-catching collection, but also gave her the chance to have her artwork available in five different countries around the world.

Brooke said she was inspired by the company’s ethos when creating the beautiful artwork.

“T2 is very focused on sustainability; all of their packaging is recyclable, all of their products are responsibly sourced, and their overall brand identity is making the world a better place,” Brooke said.

“So, I thought that a healing country painting would fit perfectly with T2’s identity.

“My second design is medicine leaves, which I thought was perfect as well because all throughout history natural ingredients like herbs, flowers and roots were used to make people feel better and more often than not they were used in teas.”

Brooke said the opportunity had been a wonderful experience, and she was delighted as tea lovers from around the world shared photos of their new collection with her.

“It’s such an amazing feeling to see my artwork on these gorgeous tea wares,” Brooke said.

“I honestly couldn’t believe that I’d have such a great opportunity in my life.

“I absolutely love seeing all these gorgeous people sending me photos and videos of them with their new tea sets and of my designs in their local T2 store – it’s such a wonderful experience.”

Amazing experience to work with T2 Tea

Brooke said working with T2 had been an amazing learning journey.

“From being sustainable, to being the most employee-friendly business I have ever seen, it’s been so eye opening,” she said.

“All of the staff are so friendly and such gorgeous individuals. T2 really is celebrating difference to make a difference.”

T2 Tea head of product Wendy Bryne said the connection the company felt with Brooke was instant.

“When we met Brooke, it was a done deal,” Wendy said.

“We fell in love with her, her ethos of giving back to the community, her passion for learning, her passion for the environment, and all things that aligned really well with T2.

“This has been such an incredible experience for us as a team in terms of learning about Brooke, her community, her family, her environment and issues that are really important to her.

“So, we’ve absolutely loved it.”

When it comes to drinking tea, Brooke said she was definitely hooked on trying new flavours.

“I’m a tea addict!” she said.

“I love trying all the new flavours that I find, especially T2’s tea.

“It’s actually really funny that T2 chose me to create the artworks because they are one my absolute favourite brands.

“My all-time favourite tea would have to be the hot jam brownie tea – it tastes and smells exactly like a jam brownie – it’s amazing!”
