New shade sails have been installed by local contractor Planet Shade at Apex Park in Gin Gin as part of a Bundaberg Regional Council shade structure program.
It comes after 85 per cent of people surveyed for the Parks and Open Space Strategy 2019 – 2026 indicated the importance of parks being safe and welcoming, including the provision of shade.
The popular Apex Park playground is located in Mulgrave Street and was identified for new shade sails following an expansion of the playground area during the Gin Gin Streetscape upgrade last yeat.
The new shade sails are of a curved cantilever UV-rated structure.
The work was funded under the Parks Capital Works program.
