Kidsplus+ Bundaberg celebrated its 30 year reunion at Christ Church earlier this month, with Kathy Brecknell also celebrating 30 years as branch manager.

Past and present leaders, prayer partners and representative from GFS Anglican Ministry Brisbane and Australia Jenny Tutin and Di and Kevin Bell were all in attendance at the event.

Mrs Kathy Brecknell has been the branch leader for all of its 30 years and took the opportunity to thank all past and present leaders, parents, prayer partners and people who gave donations or assisted in any way in her speech.

When asked about her favourite moments, Mrs Brecknell said it was great to see generations of families still attending the sessions.

“There were so many, however when past children who are now parents bring their children along, this is very special,” Mrs Brecknell said.

Some of her most memorable moments from Kidsplus+ included camps, Christmas Eve Musical Church Services and the opportunity to share her faith.

Two other members were also recognised for the long association with the group, including Melissa Hodgetts (nee Berthelsen) who started at the age of 13 years.

While she left for a few years to have children she has returned with her children.

Peta Ward is also a long-serving Kidsplus+ member, joining at the age of 7 she is currently a leader, 17 years later.

The Venerable Archdeacon Keith Dean-Jones OGS, Rector of Bundaberg and Archdeacon of Burnett congratulated Mrs Brecknell on her outstanding commitment and dedication to youth ministry over the last 30 years.
