The community is being encouraged to support GlobalCare Africa’s upcoming gala dinner in Bundaberg, which is aiming to raise much-needed funds for the construction of a new school.
David Ballard has been organising the fundraiser which will support the goal to help educate as many African youth as possible.
He said the organisation was hoping to reach a fundraising goal of $50,000 to build a new school in Africa.
“We want to ensure the students are taught to read and write and being taught by the best teachers to ensure they are educated properly and provide them hope for life,” David said.
In 2018 GlobalCare Africa began building an orphanage in Uganda which is now a place to call home for genuinely orphaned children.
Previously, GlobalCare Africa’s volunteers helped to build houses in the country with their inspiration for the orphanage coming from local woman, “Mama” Caroline Achom.
Caroline is 34 years old and grew up as an orphan.
Her father died when she was two years old and her mother passed away when she was nine and she lived on the streets of Kampala, surviving any way she could.
She is now “Mama” to the children living in the orphanage built by the GlobalCare Africa team.
“In 2019 we helped Mama Caroline Achom build a home for 50 children in Tororo, Uganda and now we are excited to focus on the school and help give hope to the future of these children through education,” David said.
“We have a saying here at GlobalCare Africa, we cannot help everybody, but everybody can help somebody.
“GlobalCare Africa have turned their life around.
“They now have a future. They now have a hope. They now have a home. They now have the greatest gift of all – love.”
