The parking space on the northern side of Moneys Creek has been closed as work begins to revitalise the area.
Bundaberg Regional Council will remove the existing path, which runs from the carpark to the creek, with an all-new accessibility compliant walkway.
Parks and Gardens portfolio spokesperson Cr Wayne Honor said the Moneys Creek carpark would be closed to the public during weekdays until Friday 13 May, weather pending, as construction takes place.
“Work will include informal retaining between the pathway and the beach and the removal of the pathway from the carpark to the surf lifesavers building structure in the area,” he said.
“A new beach shower will also be installed along with two new bin enclosures and landscaping.”
Cr Honor said the space was popular spot for beachgoers who were visiting Moneys Creek or the nearby Kelly’s Beach.
“We are incredibly lucky to have such beautiful coastal locations for locals and visitors alike to enjoy,” he said.
“Once completed, these pathways and other upgrades will enhance the carpark and surrounding area at Moneys Creek to provide another wonderful spot for all to utilise.”
During the construction process, access to the beach will be available via the stairs at Crawford Park, Bargara.
The project has been funded under Bundaberg Regional Council’s Capital Works Program.
Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
