If you are passionate about creating a more dementia-friendly community, Dementia Australia is hosting a workshop, It Starts With You, at the Bundaberg Library.
A dementia-friendly community is one where people with dementia are understood, respected and supported.
People living with dementia who are supported to live well in the community are more likely to stay in their homes longer and are less likely to enter residential aged care prematurely.
There are an estimated 94,000 people living with dementia in Queensland.
Without a medical breakthrough, this number is expected to increase to an estimated 207,000 people by 2058.
The free Dementia Australia two-hour workshop It starts With You will be held at Bundaberg Library on Tuesday 1 March at 3pm. Bookings are essential.

Community members can also phone the National Dementia Helpline to register for this course on 1800 100 500.
The National Dementia Helpline is available from 8am-8pm, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.
