Kalki Moon has made history and claimed the title of Queensland’s most awarded gin producer at the 2021 Australian Distilled Spirits Awards.
The family-owned-and-operated distillery is the first Queensland distillery to be awarded three gold medals across multiple gin categories in one year, with its spirits recognised across some of the most contested categories of the competition.
Kalki Moon’s Australian Premium Gin took out top place in the London Dry Gin category, while their Navy Strength was recognised as best Navy Gin, and their soon-to-be-released Solstice Pinot Noir Gin won the Barrel Aged Division.
These achievements, along with a swag of gold, silver and bronze medals awarded across their range, top off an extraordinary year for the company which only opened its doors to the public in 2017.
Kalkie Moon Australian Distilled Spirits win for whole team
Kalki Moon founder Rick Prosser said they were honoured to make history, know the team’s hard work had paid off.
“This is our best ever result in Australia’s most prestigious spirit awards, and one we’re incredibly proud of,” Rick said.
“As a team and as a family, we have worked hard to achieve great consistency across our whole range of hand-crafted spirits and we feel so honoured to have this recognised with six medals across five categories.
“These top off a huge year for Kalki Moon – we have launched a number of new products including the second of our cane spirit series, and two RTD products in partnership with Bundaberg Brewed Drinks.
“We are proud to be a part of Bundaberg’s tipple tourism scene and 2021 has been a record breaker for us, with over 30,000 people visiting our cellar door.”
In addition to the gold medals, Kalki Moon was also awarded two silver medals for the Classic Gin and Rum Liqueur while their Plant Cane Spirit received a bronze in the 2021 ADSA.
