A fence is currently being installed at the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens playground.

The Bundaberg Botanic Gardens playground is undergoing construction with a fully enclosed fence to be installed by the end of next week.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s Parks and Gardens portfolio spokesperson Cr Wayne Honor said the work was being undertaken by a local contractor from today.

“This project involves installing the last section of fencing so the playground will become fully enclosed, which I am sure many parents will welcome,” he said.

“Work will begin today and will feature the installation of fencing posts before the panels are constructed.

“The local team at Complete Barrier Solutions has been contracted to complete the project and are looking to have the work finalised by next Friday.”

Cr Honor said the fencing project had come to fruition after community consultation had identified the need for more security within the popular area.

“As a result of consultation with parents of children with special needs, a fully enclosed destination playground was identified as a high priority,” he said.

“The fencing will provide a secure, safe and inclusive playground to be enjoyed by children, parents and carers alike.”

Cr Honor said families would still be able to enjoy the playground during the construction process, with the area to stay open.

“Depending on the stage of work and who is in the playground the team may tape off the area they are working in to ensure everyone’s safety, however we expect the majority of the playground to be accessible each day,” he said.

The fencing at the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens playground will be completed by Friday 10 December.
