The community is invited to take a selfie with some super sweet alpacas when the AllyHar Alpaca Farm hosts an open day next weekend.
Owner’s Angela and Luke Samways will open the gates to their Branyan property for visitors to take part in a meet and greet with their 17-strong alpaca family on Sunday, 10 October.
Angela said their would be the chance to meet plenty of the alpaca crew, including four babies named Sonic, Raj, Olaf and Theodore.
She said each of the alpacas came with their own unique personalities and were always lots of fun to be around.
“What I love the most about alpacas is their friendly and inquisitive nature and how calming and peaceful they are to watch and be around,” she said.
“Alpacas have their own personalities; they can be curious, naughty, a little spitty sometimes (mainly at dinner time) but overall they are just amazing.
“Some love cuddles, eating mulberries and Sonic wags his tail like a puppy when you give him a pat.”
AllyHar Alpacas Farm has been operating for nine years in the region and Angela said every day was filled up with jobs to keep the alpacas happy and healthy.
“A typical day on the farm is feeding, cleaning and filling up the water troughs, cleaning the poo piles, spending time with them in the paddock, cuddles, pats, more feeding and general farm jobs,” she said.
“I also run farm visits for small groups for disability/aged care organisations, home school groups and holiday programs.”
Angela said the upcoming open day was for the whole community to enjoy with plenty of fun on offer.
“At the open day we will have alpaca feeding, our Pop Up Paca Gift Shop, Cruz n Brew coffee van, The Sweet Factory Cookies, colouring for the kids, a raffle and a lucky gate prize,” she said.
“You can also have a go at skirting some fleece and you can get plenty of alpaca cuddles, selfies and more.
“If people have never met an alpaca or know nothing about these beautiful animals then come out to our open day, it will be a fantastic morning for the whole family.”
The AllyHar Alpaca Farm open day will be held at 25 Samuels Road, Branyan on Sunday, 10 October from 10am to 1pm.
Entry is via gold coin donation.
